Addictions

Addictions

Addiction is a biopsychosocial disease, so the approach to this problem is complex and multidisciplinary. The main thing is to start dealing with it and come to a conversation with a narcologist. During the consultation, the specialist is heard with complaints and the history of the disease is clarified, which will help in the treatment process, diagnostics are performed and the type and direction of treatment is determined, medications are prescribed, psychotherapy is applied.

Unfortunately, getting rid of addictions can only take place if the addict himself wants it. The most difficult thing is to motivate the addict to get rid of their misery. Most often, an addict decides to change his or her lifestyle only when his or her life is "disaster-stricken" or near collapse. Always a disorder of organ function, mental health or social health is a signal of the need to start treatment. Once a decision has been made, both the addict and the co-dependents must be prepared for a long-term recovery process.

The very beginning of the treatment process is a person's awareness that the use of addictive substances or processes has caused adverse consequences in his life - physical, mental and social health disorders:

  • social health disorders – deterioration of family relations, including collapse, employment relations disorders, financial difficulties, career or personal development disorders, isolation, criminal behavior
  • mental health disorders – mood swings, anxiety, restlessness, sleep disorders, difficulty concentrating, coordination and memory disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, degradation
  • organ disorders – heart disease, pancreatic disease, liver disease or hepatitis, HIV and trauma.

The beginning of treatment and the basis of its successful outcome is the dependent free will to be treated and to radically change your lifestyle!
